Costa Rica remote-worker stay (digital nomad)

Costa Rica’s remote-worker stay is designed for foreign remote income, initially for one year with a possible additional year. Its financial, dependant, insurance and Spanish-document requirements differ from tourist entry and from pension-based residence.

Income, funds or investment

Net remote income: USD 3,000 monthly, or USD 4,000 with dependants. Government application payment USD 100 per applicant and full-stay insurance with at least USD 50,000 coverage are separate requirements.

Prepare the official remote-worker application and income evidence, Spanish translations and the correct dependant documents. Each accompanying dependant needs insurance for the authorised stay. Verify the authority’s current payment instructions directly; transfer fees must not reduce the required net payment. Do not send bank or identity documents to WhereCanIMove.
