- Confirm that your employer or clients permit work from the destination, and ask about payroll, social-security coverage and local work restrictions.
- Check background-record jurisdictions, document validity windows, apostilles, certified translations and each household member's documents before ordering them.

🇪🇸 Spain
Spain International Telework (Digital Nomad) Visa
Spain's international telework permission covers qualified adult third-country nationals performing fully remote work for foreign businesses. Applicants need a recognised qualification or at least three years' relevant experience, established foreign work relationships, sufficient employment income and compliant health/social-security cover.
Financial conditions
Qualifying work income: 200% of monthly SMI for the principal applicant, plus 75% for the first accompanying family member and 25% for each further member. Initial in-country residence application fee: EUR 73.26 per person; consular visa fees are separate.
Qualifying conditions and capital requirements are separate from application fees.
Documents and requirements
A complete document list is not established in this record. Confirm the current list with the relevant authority.
Questions to resolve
A consular telework visa lasts up to one year, or less for a shorter work period. Qualifying applications made while legally in Spain can obtain residence for up to three years. Residence renewals are for two-year periods if conditions continue. Confirm the applicable documents and procedure with the competent consulate or UGE.
🇵🇹 Portugal
Portugal remote-work residence visa and permit (D8)
Portugal's remote-work residence route is for employees and independent professionals working for people or organisations outside Portugal. A qualifying residence visa is followed by an AIMA residence-permit application.
Financial conditions
2026 main-applicant professional income: at least EUR 3,680 per month on average over the previous three months (4 × EUR 920).
Qualifying conditions and capital requirements are separate from application fees.
Documents and requirements
Show the overseas employment or service relationship, proof of tax residence and average monthly professional income over the preceding three months of at least four Portuguese minimum monthly wages. AIMA also requires a valid passport/residence visa, evidence of the foreign work relationship, accommodation and compliance with criminal-record and entry restrictions.
Questions to resolve
A visa or residence card does not itself grant IFICI tax relief; IFICI has separate qualifying-activity and prior-tax-residence conditions. The two-year validity stated here is the initial residence permit from card issuance; AIMA states renewals are for successive three-year periods. It is not the entry-visa duration.
