Irish citizenship through Foreign Births Registration
Foreign Births Registration can establish Irish citizenship for qualifying people born abroad with an Irish-born grandparent or a parent who was Irish when they were born. A passport is a separate later application. A parent born in Ireland may instead establish existing citizenship; confirm the correct route before paying.

Foreign Births Registration: EUR 278 adult or EUR 153 under 18, including return postage; passport and document costs are separate.
For an adult grandparent-based application, gather the witnessed form, civil birth certificate, name-change records if relevant, certified photo-ID copy, two original address proofs and four colour photos. The parent and Irish-born grandparent need civil birth/name-change records and certified photo ID or a death certificate. Use the separate minor or parent-citizenship checklist where appropriate.
