Canada Express Entry 2026 — CRS Scores, Draws and How to Qualify
How the CRS works
The CRS allocates up to 1,200 points across core factors (age, education, language, Canadian work experience) and additional factors (provincial nomination, arranged employment, French language skills, sibling in Canada). Most candidates without a job offer or provincial nomination score between 400 and 550 points.
Key scoring factors
Age peaks at 25–29 (110 points). A Master's degree scores 126 points; a Bachelor's 112 points. CLB 9 English in all four abilities scores 29 points per ability (116 total). One year of Canadian work experience adds 40 points; 5 years adds 80 points. A valid job offer from a Canadian employer in NOC TEER 0, 1, 2 or 3 adds 50–200 points.
Current cut-off scores
In 2025–2026, all-program draws have been inviting candidates with CRS scores of approximately 480–510. Programme-specific draws (Federal Skilled Trades, Canadian Experience Class, French-language draws) often have lower cut-offs — sometimes below 440.
Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs)
A provincial nomination adds 600 CRS points — effectively guaranteeing an invitation in the next draw. Most provinces have PNP streams aligned with Express Entry. Alberta, Ontario, British Columbia and Nova Scotia are the most active. Requirements vary by province and stream.
Processing time
Once you receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA): 6 months for the majority of straightforward applications under the service standard.
French speakers
Canada has significantly increased draws for French-speaking candidates outside Quebec. If you speak French at CLB 7+ level, your chances increase substantially — dedicated French draws have had cut-offs in the 350–380 range.
