Stamp 0 / financially independent permission

Applications must be sent to the Immigration Service Delivery (ISD) department by post or email. There is no online application process for Stamp 0 ireland, so all documents must be submitted physically or electronically as per instructions. Processing times vary but generally take 6-12 weeks.

Stamp 0 is year to year and never leads to citizenship. The years in residence are non-reckonable, they don't count for immigration purposes.

Stamp 0 is granted for one year. If the holder continues to satisfy the criteria upon which the permission was originally granted, it will most likely be renewed without any complication. Time spent in Ireland on Stamp 0 is typically not considered reckonable residence.

If you have Social Security credits in both the United States and Ireland, you may be eligible for benefits from one or both countries. If you meet all the basic requirements under one country's system, you will get a regular benefit from that country.
